Great Tips for Adjusting to Assisted Living

Change is almost never easy. So it’s understandable that even though you’ve taken great care in choosing a senior living community, you might still be a little nervous about moving in. But remember – senior living is full of benefits! No more home maintenance. Incredible service and hospitality. Safety and security. Deliciously healthy meal choices. So many things to do and people to meet. Once you start taking advantage of them, you’ll develop a new appreciation for senior living at Wesley Court.

  1. Start meeting people and participating in activities.

We know that packing and relocating takes a lot of energy – physically, emotionally and mentally. Of course, you may need a little time to recover. But it’s still a great idea to get out and about for a bit each day, as soon as you can. Start to become familiar with our regular programs so you can decide which ones you’ll want to participate in. And the sooner you get involved, the sooner you’ll relax and begin to feel at home.

  2. Let team members know your preferences.

We’re here for you! Your choices, preferences and lifestyle matter to us – so keep us informed. Let us know what you like to do, your favorite meals and all the things that make you happy – and we’ll do our best to make them happen.

  3. Remember, we’re here to answer all your questions.

We make it a priority to keep residents informed about future and ongoing events, but of course, you may be curious or want more information on how to become involved. Reach out to us – we’re here for you and can also help if you need special accommodations.

  4. Surround yourself with your favorite things.

Most residents moving into assisted living have downsized, but you’ve probably kept those most cherished possessions. Your apartment is your home – decorate it the way you want.

  5. Break the ice.

If you’re naturally outgoing, that’ll be easy! But don’t worry if you’re feeling a little shy or reserved. Our team members and resident ambassadors will show you around the community and introduce you to other residents. They’ll also share more about the activities and events we have to offer. We all can’t wait to become better acquainted!

  6. Give us your feedback.

We listen to our residents. If you have suggestions, ideas, compliments or constructive feedback for us, our door is always open.

  7. Try out new activities.

Of course, we hope you’ll still indulge in your favorite hobbies. But while your participation is always your choice, trying something different is good for your mood, your brain and your health. Who knows? You might just find a new favorite activity!

  8. Invite family and friends over.

Wesley Court was designed not only for our residents but for your children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews or former neighbors to visit and make new memories together. Invite them over – for a meal, a friends and family event or just to enjoy the beautiful indoor and outdoor community spaces or your personal apartment.

We’re here to make your transition to our assisted living community successful – and it’s our job to make you happy. If you have questions about assisted living or Wesley Court, we invite you to schedule a personal consultation today. We’d love to meet you and tell you all about our gracious community.
